Concept

This project brings together edited excerpts on plus-size representation in fashion media, placing them side by side to be read more critically. While these texts often present progress and inclusion, they also reveal ongoing limitations in how bodies are framed and who fashion is actually designed for.

By re-circulating these articles in a new format, the publication creates space to question what visibility really means. It shifts the focus from celebration to analysis, asking who is included, how they are represented, and who continues to be left out.

Process

I selected and edited a range of texts spanning different years and publications, focusing on moments of visibility for plus-size models while also highlighting contradictions within the industry. The content was reorganized into thematic sections to create a dialogue across time rather than presenting each text in isolation.

The publication was designed as a small, portable booklet to support circulation in public spaces. Layout decisions emphasized readability while allowing room for subtle intervention, using hierarchy, spacing, and sequencing to guide how the texts are understood and connected.

Results

The final outcome is a compact, saddle-stitched publication that balances editorial clarity with critical framing. By placing these texts in conversation with one another, the project highlights both the progress that has been made and the limitations that still exist.

Through its format and distribution, the publication moves beyond passive reading, encouraging viewers to engage more actively with the content and reconsider how representation operates within fashion media.

Circulation

The publication was distributed in public spaces, allowing it to move outside of a traditional reading context and reach viewers in everyday environments. By placing the zine in locations such as dressing rooms and shared spaces, the project emphasizes circulation as an active part of the work, rather than just its final form.
